Miku Hatsune is the new Do As Infinity. Or something.

This song is awesome, though. OSTER project is up there with kz/livetune as far as my favourite Vocaloid artists go, they have a lot of excellent songs. This particular one is from the album "Miku no Kanzume" and was also featured in Project Diva and elsewhere. If you like it, I would strongly recommend checking out the full version as my cut really doesn't do it justice.

I considered using the Project Diva PV for this, but I think the Flash animation is a bit more fitting. It also compresses better and served as a good source for graphics and the animated banner loop so really, what's not to love? :P

This song was an interesting challenge to step - given the song's BPM I didn't want to overuse the 12th gallops, but at the same time I didn't want the whole thing to turn into a boring quarter note fest, so it was necessary to find a middle ground between the two. There's more straight-out karaoke steps than what I'd normally do, but that's just what ended up feeling the most natural at the time - it might look odd at first to have like 5 purple arrows in a row but it felt weirder having those particular on the beat on heavy when the vocal rhythm is a 12th off it. Well anyway, hopefully you'll get used to it. With the longer strings of 4ths I used some jumps and freezes to spice things up a little. I don't really have time to write the full measure-by-measure breakdown this time but the steps should generally be pretty self-explanatory anyway I think.

Not too much to say about the rest. Graphics are basically screencaps from the video, I added artist text to the banner but that's about it. How do you like my accidentally seamless video editing, pretty cool huh??? And yes if you're familiar with the song you'll notice I went straight through a key change with my song cut (at the start of the chorus) - I really couldn't do anything else in this case, since to avoid cutting through that key change I'd have to include the entire last bridge section which would have made the cut over 2 minutes long and decidedly ITG-like in feel. Hopefully most people won't even notice anyway.

Oh yeah, one other thing - in the SM file itself, I've set the background to a screencap of the first (mostly black) frame of the movie instead of an actual background, Akira style. I did this because it looked too weird going from the background to the black start of the movie back to the part where I captured the background from again - and even if I did something like set a BG change to the black frame at beat -100 or whatever, it still showed the background for a split second at the start. So I had to set the background itself to the black frame, sorry. If you play without movies I would recommend editing the SM file and changing:

#BACKGROUND:black.png;

to

#BACKGROUND:Miracle Paint-bg.png;

Sorry about that.

Anyway, hope you all enjoy the file!
